New Predator Film Badlands in Development
The Predator universe is expanding with the development of a new film titled Badlands, set to be directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who is returning to the Predator universe after his work on Prey.

According to a report by Deadline, 20th Century is spearheading the expansion of the Predator franchise with Badlands, a standalone installment in the series. Trachtenberg, in addition to directing, will be co-writing the script alongside Patrick Aison, known for his work on Prey and the upcoming film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Filming for Badlands is scheduled to commence later this year. Despite sharing the same director, Badlands will not serve as a direct sequel to Prey due to differences in time periods. The upcoming film is expected to take the Predator series in a new direction.
Prey, released in 2022, is a prequel to the first four films in the Predator franchise and received positive acclaim from both critics and fans upon its release on Hulu. Disney shared that Prey set a new record on Hulu as the most-watched premiere for a single release.

The storyline of Prey follows Naru (portrayed by Amber Midthunder), a young Comanche warrior who confronts a technologically advanced Predator, ultimately devising a strategy to vanquish her formidable opponent.
The film’s success paved the way for Naru to be hailed as the new War Chief of her community. Although a post-credits scene hinted at the arrival of more Predator ships, this narrative will not be explored in Badlands.
Details regarding the plot of Badlands, including whether it will have a theatrical release or stream exclusively on Hulu, have not yet been revealed. As of now, there is no confirmed release date for Trachtenberg’s Badlands.
