Sit back and grab yourself a warm cup of tea because Netflix has just made the most important casting in their Netflix live-action adaptation of Avatar The Last Airbender. As has been a trend with the other casting choices, this one is about as perfect as it can be. Netflix announced that production was officially beginning for the remake of the iconic anime series and along with that they announced that Paul Sun-Hyung would be playing the equally iconic role of Uncle Iroh. Along with Hyung, Lim Kay Siu joins the cast as Monk Gyatso, and Ken Leung joins in the role of Commander Zhao.

They didn’t stop there as they also announced that they will be partnering with Pixomondo Virtual Production to film the series using a virtual production stage similar to what was used to film The Mandalorian for Disney+. Netflix claims it is going to allow the  “visual effects to be done in real-time in-camera, combining multiple environments on a single stage.”

In case you have been living under a rock or have not been lucky enough to enjoy this great anime, Avatar: The Last Airbender will be a remake of the very popular animated series which was set in a fantasy world where the world is divided into four nations that each center around a different element. Years ago, they all lived in harmony and peace, that was until the Fire Nation attacked, and now after 100 years since that attack and instilling war onto their world, the Avatar vanished and has not been since that is until two siblings come across the young Airbender Aang who is the Avatar and after being discovered will use his abilities as the Avatar and mastery of the four elements to attempt and bring peace back to the nations.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is currently in production. There is no release date as of yet, but all three seasons of the original show, plus its excellent sequel series The Legend of Korra are streaming on Netflix.
