Masters of the Universe: Forge of Destiny Trade Paperback Review
Greetings, fellow geeks! Hassel from the Geek Network Podcast Syndicate, is bringing you the lowdown on the latest trade paperback from Dark Horse, Masters of the Universe: Forge of Destiny. If you’re a fan of the Netflix reboot of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, then you’ll want to add this to your collection.
The book is written by Tim Seeley and illustrated by Eddie Nunez, with colors by Brad Simpson and lettering by Andworld Design. This talented team brings us four issues of pure Masters of the Universe magic. And let me tell you, it’s a stellar prequel to the Netflix series, capturing all the action and excitement that we love about the MOTU franchise.

The story is set in the early days of He-Man and Skeletor’s epic rivalry. Skeletor has just appeared on the scene, and people have yet to learn who he is. King Randor has yet to align himself with He-Man because he doesn’t even know if He-Man is an ally. The tension and mystery are palpable, making this a page-turner from start to finish.
Eddie Nunez’s art is superb, closely matching the style and feel of the Netflix series. His character designs are on point, and the action scenes are dynamic and fluid. Coupled with Brad Simpson’s vibrant colors, the art leaps off the page, hurling you into the fantastical world of Eternia.
One of the highlights of this trade paperback is Cyclone’s origin story. Who doesn’t love a good origin story? It’s always awesome to see how a character comes into their own, and Cyclone’s backstory adds depth to the MOTU universe.

Without giving away too much, this trade paperback is a must-read if you’re a fan of He-Man’s heroic deeds, Skeletor’s scheming, and the epic battle between good and evil. The storytelling is engaging, the artwork is top-notch, and the pacing keeps you hooked from cover to cover.
I’m giving Masters of the Universe: Forge of Destiny a solid four and a half out of five hassles. It’s a fantastic addition to any MOTU fan’s collection and a great entry point for new readers curious about the He-Man universe.
Do yourself a favor and check it out when it drops this week on 5/8. Remember, until next time, the power is yours!
