SEDAP! The 8/10 Recipe – A Joyful, Chaotic Feast with a Few Spills on the Side

How SEDAP! Cooks Up Something Special

When Kopiforge, a small but ambitious Singaporean game collective, set out to cook up their debut title, few could have expected just how flavorful the final dish would turn out to be. SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure isn’t just a quirky co-op cooking game — it’s a riotous, color-drenched journey that channels the charm of Overcooked and PlateUp! while boldly seasoning the genre with its own unique spice blend.

The premise is delightfully whimsical: you play as Som and Gon, two dream-chasing restaurateurs who discover the mystical Makanomicon — a recipe book brimming with fantastical dishes. With food truck in tow, they head to the abandoned Khaya Island, where ingredients roam wild, monsters lurk behind bushes, and every level becomes a test of culinary courage.

At its heart, SEDAP! is a co-op game about timing, teamwork, and glorious chaos. Players chop, mash, and quick-time-event (QTE) their way through increasingly complex recipes while dodging obstacles and managing an onslaught of orders. The game begins each round with a smooth camera pan that orients players — a small touch that proves invaluable given the hectic nature of each stage.

Where SEDAP! really shines is in its vibrant personality. The game is hilariously self-aware, with ingredients that have minds (and legs) of their own. Ginger, in particular, deserves a special mention for delivering one of the game’s most laugh-out-loud moments — a surprise that has to be seen to be believed.

Combat is another welcome surprise. Gathering ingredients involves battling enemies with a light hack-and-slash system. It’s simple but satisfying, especially as you unlock new weapons and charms that add slight tactical depth. Charging attacks, special abilities, and strategic revives all keep things spicy without overwhelming the core gameplay.

New recipes are gradually introduced through the Makanomicon, and each level ramps up the complexity — often throwing in delightful wrinkles like gates that require cooperation to open or teletotems that transport items across the map.

Unfortunately, not every part of SEDAP! is equally well-seasoned. While the game thrives in multiplayer, its solo mode leaves something to be desired. Playing as both Som and Gon, the game attempts to balance things with some automatic switching and adjusted difficulty. But many co-op mechanics — like pressure plates and teletotems — lose their charm when you’re forced to do all the legwork yourself.

What’s more frustrating is the lack of separate save files. Whether you want to try solo mode or invite a friend for local co-op, you’ll have to start from scratch each time — a baffling oversight that adds unnecessary friction to an otherwise inviting game.

Still, these flaws don’t spoil the meal. SEDAP! is a joyously chaotic, lovingly crafted celebration of food, friendship, and the joy of a well-timed QTE. Its bold visuals, infectious humor, and genre-pushing mechanics show that kopiforge isn’t just following in the footsteps of culinary co-op giants — they’re forging a flavorful new path of their own.

SEDAP! is a deliciously fun co-op experience with heart, humor, and just the right amount of heat. Best served with friends — but worth a taste solo, if you can stomach a few rough edges.
