Skybound Unveils First Look At Transformers #2
Skybound has announced an exciting lineup of variant covers and a sneak peek of Daniel Warren Johnson‘s TRANSFORMERS #2. TRANSFORMERS #1 has already proven to be a success, selling out at the distributor level. To celebrate, it will return with five special second-printing variant covers, available in comic book shops starting from November 1, 2023.
Continuing the thrilling Energon Universe and ushering in a new era for the iconic TRANSFORMERS franchise, TRANSFORMERS #2, Daniel Warren Johnson (known for his work on Extremity and Do a Powerbomb), along with colorist Mike Spicer (whose works include Stillwater and Murder Falcon), showcases the unleashing of the Decepticons. While Optimus Prime and the Autobots regroup, the menacing Starscream wreaks havoc on humanity.
Aside from the main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer, TRANSFORMERS #2 boasts an impressive list of variant covers. These include a variant by Afu Chan (known for his work on Immortal Iron Fist), a 1:10 incentive variant that continues the connecting cover series by Orlando Arocena (who has worked on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), a 1:25 incentive variant by Bryan Hitch (Known for his contributions to The Authority and Ultimates), and a 1:50 incentive variant by Tom Reilly (Known for his work on Duke).
The Energon Universe officially kicked off in June 2023 with the surprise debut of the iconic TRANSFORMERS character Jetfire in Void Rivals #1. This revealed the exciting collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, with TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE comics finding a new home with Skybound as the publisher.
The Energon Universe now plans to further expand in December with the release of Duke #1, a limited series created by Joshua Williamson (known for his work on DC‘s Superman and Dark Ride), Tom Reilly, and Jordie Bellaire (who has contributed to W0rldtr33).
Following that, Cobra Commander #1 will launch in January 2024, also created by Williamson, Andrea Milana (known for Impact Winter: Rook), and Annalisa Leoni (known for her work on Oblivion Song).
For now, continue your adventure in the Energon Universe with Void Rivals and Transformers. TRANSFORMERS #2 arrives at your local comic shop on November 8, 2023. Check out the preview below:
