BOOM! Studios Unveils First Look at LAWFUL #1, A New Fantasy Series Exploring Moral Consequences

BOOM! Studios has lifted the curtain on their latest fantasy offering, LAWFUL #1, set to hit comic shops on June 12. This new series is penned by the celebrated and award-winning author Greg Pak, whose notable works include Mech Cadets and Planet Hulk. He’s joined by artist Diego Galindo, known for his work on Stranger Things: The Voyage and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Colorist Irma Kniivila and letterer Simon Bowland complete the creative team, promising a gorgeous, yet dangerous, journey into a world where every misstep has monstrous consequences.

A City of Magic and Moral Ambiguity

LAWFUL #1 invites readers to a walled city that seamlessly blends magical elements with a touch of modernity. The architecture may seem familiar, but the rules governing this world are far from ordinary. The narrative revolves around two young heroes driven by a thirst for adventure, who are abruptly confronted with the harsh reality of their surroundings: every mistake, lie, or misdeed can trigger a transformation into a monster.

Greg Pak’s storytelling, combined with Diego Galindo’s rich artwork, immerses readers in a city where the struggle between good and evil takes a tangible form. The series explores themes of moral imperfection and societal judgment, challenging readers to question the blurred lines between legality and righteousness.

Covers and Availability

The first issue of LAWFUL features a stunning main cover by Qistina Khalidah as well as a slew of variant covers designed by Miguel Mercado (House of Slaughter) and Erica Henderson (Assassin Nation).

LAWFUL #1 will be released on June 12, 2024, and is available for pre-order at local comic shops. Readers can also purchase digital copies on Kindle, iBooks, and Google Play. To stay updated on all things BOOM! check out their website.
