Amazon Studios Set To Buy Rights To MASS EFFECT To Develop TV Series Adaptation

The Normandy is headed to Amazon as reports by Deadline have said that Amazon StudiosJennifer Salke announced that the studio is nearing a deal with Electronic Arts to develop a television series based on the best-selling video game series Mass Effect.

The sci-fi narrative driven RPG developed by BioWare has been a popular series that developed quite the fandom during it’s trilogy release and even after splitting fans with their feeling on the end of the trilogy and the ill received spinoff Mass Effect: Andromeda, the title returned to limelight with it’s recent release of the original trilogy with a nice makeover for newer gen consoles. The Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has had fans buzzing over the series once again and the teasers leading to a sequel has the Normandy soaring once again. It’s no surprise that with the success of adaptations as of late that Amazon Studios would want to tackle a project like Mass Effect that shows a lot of promise and intrigue.

Mass Effect followed, “Commander Shepard and lead their team through solving ancient mysteries and saving the galaxy from the threat of the Reapers, an ancient race of sentient machines bent on annihilating all life in the galaxy.”

No news has been confirmed of what this deal will entail or if this will be a direct adaptation of the video game series or simply a project set in the universe of Mass Effect, but with Amazon and Netflix leaning heavily in adapting other mediums of entertainment and Amazon not afraid to slap big budgets into their projects, there is a high upside on this adaptation. It will all come down to what kind of adaptation and creative choices are made. Amazon is also already working on another big video game franchise adaptation in Bethesda’s Fallout series with creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.
